The Ethiopian Red Cross Society (ERCS), one of Ethiopia’s largest and oldest humanitarian organizations, is seeking a qualified individual for the senior role of Director for Business Development & Resource Mobilization.

The ERCS is dedicated to providing vital services to communities affected by disasters, including emergency response, first aid, water and sanitation, and running disaster risk reduction programs focused on resilience, food security, and climate change adaptation. The organization operates across 15 Regional Offices, Zonal, and District/Woreda Branches.

Required Qualifications and Skills

Education and Experience

๐Ÿ‘‰ Education: Second (Masterโ€™s) or First (Bachelorโ€™s) Degree in Business Management, Management, Business Administration, Business Development, Marketing, Economics, Project Management, or a related field.

๐Ÿ‘‰ Experience: A total of 10 years (with a Second Degree) or 12 years (with a First Degree) of relevant work experience, which must include 5 years (with a Second Degree) or 7 years (with a First Degree) in a managerial position.

Specific Duties and Responsibilities

๐Ÿ‘‰ Strategic Leadership & Policy: Plans, organizes, directs, and controls all resource development, mobilization, and utilization functions. Coordinates the preparation and updating of resource development policies, strategies, and procedures.

๐Ÿ‘‰ Business Expansion: Leads the development and expansion of new income sources (e.g., CCDHS, Pharmaceutical services) and promotes business development initiatives to ensure the sustainable growth of the National Societyโ€™s income.

๐Ÿ‘‰ Investment & Joint Ventures: Initiates the development of proposals to promote investment in the NSโ€™s physical resources through joint venturing with public and private partners.

๐Ÿ‘‰ Financial Management: Takes the lead in increasing revenue targets set in the NS strategic plan and manages the establishment, implementation, and administration of the ERCSโ€™s Strategic Investment Solidarity Fund.

๐Ÿ‘‰ Market Assessment: Oversees and coordinates market assessment activities to enhance the competitiveness of the NS and coordinates the undertaking of business proposals, feasibility studies, and business plans for resource mobilization initiatives.

๐Ÿ‘‰ Donor Relations: Establishes a donor care management system and continually identifies new ways to maintain and improve partner/donor relationships. Establishes a donor intelligence system to identify and target high-value donors and corporate prospects.

๐Ÿ‘‰ Fundraising & Campaigns: Coordinates inter-branch business development efforts and takes the lead in launching national and international fundraising programs and campaigns.

๐Ÿ‘‰ Reporting & Support: Prepares and submits regular and extraordinary periodic reports to the DSG- PPP, and provides technical support and advice to branches on developing and administering Income Generating Activities (IGAs).
