World Vision Ethiopia is currently seeking highly qualified and experienced professionals for two key roles within its nutrition programs. Both positions are offered on a local fixed-term contract basis and are vital to the organization’s humanitarian and development efforts in Ethiopia.


1. Nutrition Coordinator

Role Overview

This full-time position is responsible for the overall strategic planning and hands-on implementation of nutrition activities across World Vision Ethiopia’s operational Woredas. The Coordinator will ensure high-quality project delivery through strong collaboration with internal teams, local government bodies, NGOs, and UN agencies, focusing on seamless coordination and integration of nutrition interventions.

Primary Responsibilities

πŸ‘‰ Lead the overall planning, implementation, and quality assurance of all project nutrition activities in the designated WVE operation Woredas.

πŸ‘‰ Ensure robust coordination, collaboration, and integration of project work with Bale JEOP nutrition staff, managers, and other relevant teams.

πŸ‘‰ Serve as the key liaison with governmental and non-governmental entities at regional, zonal, and woreda levels, including Food Security and Health Offices, DRMC, NGOs, and UN agencies (WFP, FAO, UNICEF).

πŸ‘‰ Actively participate in the provision of Infant and Young Child Feeding in Emergency (IYCF-E) services to caretakers and pregnant and lactating women (PLW).

Requirements and Qualifications

Education and Certification

  • Master’s Degree in Public Health or Nutrition.
  • Must possess a clinical health background (e.g., Public Health or Clinical Nursing) from an accredited university or a recognized health college.

Professional Experience

  • Minimum of 4–6 years of progressive professional experience in health and nutrition programming.
  • Proven experience in implementing key initiatives such as CMAM/IMAM, IYCF, IMNCI, and emergency nutrition responses.
  • Demonstrated experience in project planning, reporting, and supervision, preferably gained within an NGO or humanitarian setting.

Language Proficiency

  • English: Required (proficient in both written and spoken communication).
  • Knowledge of the relevant local language is beneficial.

2. IYCF Officer (Infant and Young Child Feeding)

Role Overview

The IYCF Officer supports the treatment of acute malnutrition and promotes optimal infant feeding practices within the designated operational areas. The Officer will work closely with health facilities and caretakers, providing critical counselling and support to ensure successful treatment outcomes and adherence to national protocols and SPHERE standards.

  • East Bale Zone: Rayitu, Sewena, and Dawa Kechen woredas
  • Bale Zone: Berbere, Goro, Gura Damolo, Harena Buluk, and Mena woredas
  • East Borena Zone: Meda Welabu woreda

Primary Responsibilities

πŸ‘‰ Support caretakers and PHCUs with essential counselling and conduct home-to-home visits for beneficiaries of Therapeutic Feeding Programs (TFP) and Supplementary Feeding Programs (SFP).

πŸ‘‰ Assist health facilities (Primary Hospitals, Health Centers, Health Posts) in the treatment of acute malnutrition among nutrition priority groups, primarily Children Under 5.

πŸ‘‰ Facilitate efficient referral linkage services in accordance with the national protocol and SPHERE standards.

πŸ‘‰ Encourage and assist caretakers in adhering to treatment instructions, hygiene and sanitation practices, and recommended infant and young child feeding guidelines at facilities and during home visits for SAM and MAM cases.

πŸ‘‰ Provide direct support and assistance for mothers at the Therapeutic Feeding Program (TFP) sites, specifically within OTP and SC units.

πŸ‘‰ Identify behavioral barriers and cultural taboos that impede optimal child feeding practices and report findings to the immediate supervisor.

πŸ‘‰ Assess and report on minimum resource requirements for IYCF implementation alongside routine reporting duties.

Requirements and Qualifications

Education and Certification

  • BSc degree in Public Health, Clinical Nursing, Nutrition, or a related health field from an accredited university or health college.
  • Required certifications include:
    • Acute Malnutrition 2019 Revised Guideline Training
    • IYCF-E (Infant and Young Child Feeding in Emergencies) Training
    • Integrated Pharmaceuticals Logistics System (IPLS)
    • Training on Family MUAC approach and TSFP/MAM

Professional Experience

  • 3–5 years of relevant professional experience.

Language Proficiency

  • Proficiency in Amharic and English is required.
  • Proficiency in relevant Local Languages is also necessary.
