Plan International, an international humanitarian and development organization, is inviting applications for the position of Project Officer under its “Countering Harmful Practices (F4B)” project. The role focuses on addressing gender-based violence and harmful traditional practices in the Amhara region.

Position: Project Officer

Role Overview

The Project Officer will support the implementation, coordination, and monitoring of project activities aimed at preventing harmful practices such as child marriage, FGM/C, teenage pregnancy, and gender-based violence. The role involves working closely with local stakeholders, government bodies, and civil society organizations.


Key Responsibilities

👉 Coordinate day-to-day project implementation activities at field level
👉 Monitor project progress and ensure alignment with approved plans and budgets
👉 Prepare reports in line with donor and organizational requirements
👉 Collaborate with government stakeholders, CSOs, and community leaders
👉 Support community-based interventions addressing harmful practices and GBV
👉 Facilitate training, awareness programs, and stakeholder engagement
👉 Ensure compliance with safeguarding and gender equality policies
👉 Participate in monitoring, evaluation, and learning processes


Required Qualifications

👉 Bachelor’s degree in Social Work, Sociology, or related social science fields
👉 Minimum 3 years of relevant experience, including at least 2 years with NGOs
👉 Strong understanding of GBV, harmful traditional practices, and gender equality
👉 Knowledge of child protection and humanitarian/development frameworks
👉 Experience in advocacy, behavior change communication, and civil society engagement
👉 Familiarity with government systems and stakeholder coordination

👉 Analytical and problem-solving abilities
👉 Excellent written and verbal communication skills
👉 Basic knowledge of finance, administration, and information systems
👉 Proficiency in computer applications (Word, Excel, etc.)


Language Requirements

👉 Fluency in English (mandatory)
👉 Knowledge of Amharic required
👉 Additional local language skills are an advantage
